Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Ascension. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our ophthalmology department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform basic patient care and ophthalmic testing procedures as directed by an Ophthalmologist.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Obtain patient history, perform basic and routine vision screening examinations, administer eye medications, and assist with minor office procedures.
  • Review the appointment schedule, complete forms, and process records accurately and efficiently.
  • Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments, and stock supplies as needed.
  • Teach proper contact lens care to patients to ensure proper insertion and removal and proper sanitary conditions.
  • Confirm accuracy of contact lens and glasses deliveries and dispense according to physician direction and patient preference.
Requirements
  • Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Education: High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
