Key Responsibilities - Core
ME ENGINEER FAMILY - CORE
- Engages and actively contributes to all facets of the company's safety and quality initiatives by demonstrating commitment to a risk-free environment through personal actions and mentoring others.
- Acquires skills to formulate budgetary Electrical estimates based on program and schematic design details.
- Participates in the evaluation of electrical alternatives during the preconstruction phase and conducts systems analysis for selected projects.
- Develops electrical scopes of work to facilitate coordination during the bidding process.
- Contributes to bid analysis and offers insights during the Trade Partner selection phase.
- Assists in outlining sequencing requirements for various systems and provides solutions to align with scheduling needs.
- Gains understanding of design documents to pinpoint potential quality issues and aids in crafting constructability review reports.
- Conducts quantity surveys of materials depicted in project plans.
- Interprets and summarizes project specifications.
- Maintains a comprehensive audit trail of quantity surveys from estimate to estimate.
- Supports vendor/subcontractor pricing and bid solicitation efforts.
- Facilitates the distribution of plans and specifications to vendors/Trade Partners.
- Collaborates and builds relationships with various stakeholders, including project team members, Trade Partners, vendors, and clients.
- Aids in managing and compiling precise cost history databases for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Maintains communication with Trade Partners and vendors to stay informed about market trends and capacities.
- Creates handoff package summaries for the project team to ensure seamless transitions from preconstruction to construction.
This position also entails the following responsibilities:
- Takes ownership of producing and explaining work products to assigned clients and represents JE Dunn in a professional manner.
- Oversees the electrical coordination process during the bidding and solicitation phases.
- Generates constructability reviews and submits reports to the project team.
- May participate in job pursuit presentations showcasing mechanical/electrical expertise.
- Delivers budgetary electrical estimates based on program and schematic design information utilizing automated electrical estimating systems for assigned projects.
- Prepares fundamental components of cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.
- Solicits, coordinates, and compiles vendor quotes for evaluation by the estimating team.
- Assists with pricing and tracking of value creation items from development through estimate inclusion.
- Helps develop scopes of work for basic trades and reviews subcontractor/vendor proposals, providing coordination input to fulfill project requirements.
- Reviews electrical options as part of the preconstruction process and completes systems analysis for selected projects.
- Gains insight into developing mechanical and electrical scopes of work for coordination during the bidding process.
- Acquires knowledge of the mechanical scope of work, including system selection, constructability, and estimating.
- Ability to execute work accurately, thoroughly, and promptly.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Electrical takeoff software; Accubid, Conest, McCormick, Bluebeam, Building Connected, etc.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to read and comprehend plans, drawings, one-lines, and specifications.
- Understanding of construction management methods and practices.
- Familiarity with specific trades and scopes of work.
- Ability to cultivate relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, construction management, or a related field (Required).
- Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the above qualifications.
- 5+ years of experience in construction and/or engineering (Preferred).
- A valid and unrestricted driver's license is required.
