Job Summary

The Victim Assistance Coordinator will provide critical support to the office in Victim Assistance and Victim/Witness Travel Coordination. This role involves working closely with victims and their families, distributing restitution, and coordinating travel for victims. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, and have the ability to work well under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

• Communicate and provide assistance to victims of family violence and child abuse regarding ongoing cases.
• Send victim letters and notify victims of their rights under the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.
• Provide follow-up with victims to ensure open communication and facilitate understanding throughout the criminal justice process.
• Notify victims of parole hearings and contact victims when Emergency Protective Orders are received.
• Prepare quarterly reports on crime victims for the State and complete victim/witness reimbursement paperwork.
• Assist with grants and coordinate travel arrangements for witnesses.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years' experience as a Victim Assistance Coordinator or equivalent responsibilities. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and data entry/spreadsheets is also required. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have experience working with survivors of domestic violence and/or training in the dynamics of domestic violence and trauma-informed response.

Working Conditions

This position is located in an office environment with minimal exposure to environmental conditions. Health and safety hazards are minimal, and no protective equipment is required. Fine dexterity, sitting, hearing, talking, and vision are constantly required, while walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling are frequently required. Occasionally, bending and standing are required.

The successful candidate must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation.
