Position Overview
The role of a Registered Nurse at Northside Hospital involves the independent planning and delivery of exceptional nursing care to patients, following physician directives and established protocols, while complying with the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.

Unit: Inpatient Oncology Atlanta

Key Responsibilities
  • Employ the nursing process to evaluate and provide age-appropriate care for patients receiving medical and supportive therapies.
  • Administer chemotherapy and blood products, monitor patients for adverse reactions, and take necessary actions while demonstrating expertise with vascular access devices.
  • Deliver care to patients undergoing radiation therapy, considering the radiation source and exposure duration.
  • Support oncology patients post-surgery, which may include complex procedures such as plastic reconstruction and grafting.
  • Manage symptoms associated with cancer and its treatments to improve patient comfort.
  • Provide emotional support and assist patients and families in coping with cancer challenges.
  • Offer comfort and assistance to terminally ill patients and their families.
  • Complete formal training in chemotherapy administration prior to performing chemotherapy as part of job requirements.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program with an active RN license in good standing in Georgia.
  • At least two (2) years of full-time RN experience following orientation or residency training.
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Additional certifications in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ACLS, NRP, PALS, etc.) may be required based on unit specifications. Please consult the specific clinical unit for details.
