Job Summary

The New Jersey State Correctional Police Officer is a critical role within the NJ DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS, responsible for ensuring the safety and security of incarcerated individuals in state correctional facilities. This position requires a strong sense of duty, a commitment to public service, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the custody, safety, and care of incarcerated individuals
  • Exercise full police powers and act as a peace officer for the detection, apprehension, arrest, and conviction of offenders
  • Participate in career advancement opportunities within the NJDOC

Requirements:

  • Age: Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must read and write English sufficiently to perform duties
  • License: Candidates will be required to possess a valid driver's license
