Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Authorization Coordinator to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As an Authorization Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all necessary authorizations are obtained in accordance with established guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Verify eligibility and obtain benefit information for patients
  • Generate letters for authorizations and respond to Member Services and Call Center inquiries
  • Resolve any identified authorization issues that arise
  • Work closely with healthcare providers and insurance companies to ensure seamless authorization processes
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of authorization requests and outcomes
Requirements
  • Previous experience with computer registration and registration scheduling systems
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and insurance policies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Minimum one year of recent experience registering patients in a hospital or clinic, working as a Medical Assistant, or working in medical billing
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission standards
  • Experience with Epic
  • Demonstrated experience with authorization process and surgical scheduling
  • Bilingual skill in Spanish or Vietnamese or Chinese
