Job SummaryTryon Medical Partners is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team in Ballantyne. As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for performing clinical and administrative tasks, including assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and logistical tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional patient care, including escorting patients to exam rooms, interviewing patients, and collecting patient history.
  • Assist patients with walking transfers, dressing, and collecting specimens.
  • Perform nursing procedures under the supervision of a physician or physician assistant.
  • Assist physicians and physician assistants in exam rooms.
  • Give instructions to patients and families as instructed by physicians or physician assistants.
  • Respond to patient care-related telephone calls and messages, taking messages and providing feedback and answers to patients, physicians, and pharmacies.
  • Administer injections and assist with minor surgery, including surgical tray setup, pre- and post-surgical care, and dressing application.
  • Initiate laboratory procedures, including CLIA-waived testing, capillary punctures, and venipunctures.
  • Schedule appointments and referrals, follow up on physician orders, and complete forms and prior authorizations for medications.
  • Monitor and check assigned Athena boxes and other assigned boxes for coverage.
  • Work at different Tryon office locations as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program (CAAHEP or ABHES).
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Maintain American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification.
  • Completion of Hepatitis B Vaccine and Flu Vaccine Form will be required.
  • Completion of TB test will be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift and support weight of 35 pounds.
  • Ability to concentrate on details.
  • Use of computer for long periods of time.
