Medical Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Assistant to support our laboratory team. The ideal candidate will have strong data entry skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving and processing specimens, identifying and labeling specimens, and performing clerical and administrative duties as needed.
The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and be able to maintain accurate records. They will also be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with laboratory staff and nursing home staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and process specimens consistent with specimen testing requirements
- Identify and accurately label specimens and distribute them to the appropriate testing area
- Perform clerical and administrative duties as needed
- Organize and maintain lab specimen storage and supplies for proper inventory
- Document and communicate any specimen non-conformities to Client Services and/or nursing home staff
- Clean and maintain work area and all lab equipment and supplies
- Comply with all health and safety regulations and laboratory protocol
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong data entry skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience as a lab assistant or relevant experience in a lab
- Ability to build rapport with laboratory and nursing home staff
- Familiarity with medical software and equipment
- Strong organizational skills
