Position Overview

The Institutional Investment Operations Associate role is designed to deliver operational assistance, trading execution, liquidity oversight, and reporting for the GuideStone Investment Services ("GSIS") Institutional Investment Operations team and its clientele.

Key Responsibilities

  • Possess a robust understanding of finance and institutional investment practices.
  • Exhibit a thorough comprehension of investment terminology, financial principles, and organizational workflows.
  • Execute daily responsibilities as the Cash Desk Authorized Trader, which includes reviewing GSIS / GSFR account activities from the previous day, generating morning reports for Finance & Accounting, portfolio management, and compliance. Monitor cash movements into and out of GSFR Directed Asset and GSIS client accounts, collaborating with the custody team at Northern Trust. Validate and reconcile trading activities from the prior day. Manage Web Cash Movement (WCM) and Trade Order Entry (TOE) system activities to facilitate capital calls from private fund managers. Model and enter trades for GSFR Directed Asset and GSIS client accounts. Engage with Northern Trust's trade desk for the purchase and sale of individual securities and/or exchange-traded funds. Communicate with private fund managers and Insight regarding cash movements and rebalancing.
  • Provide tactical support to the Investment Services data and reporting function: Take primary responsibility for downloading, naming, and organizing all private fund information from manager portals for client and proprietary accounts. Input private fund market values from manager statements, update Northern Trust reversal trades, client contributions, and distribution transactions into the Addepar reporting and analytics system daily. Validate trades and NAVS by reviewing custodial feed data for GuideStone funds. Track, notify, and retain client and manager communications received through various group email inboxes. Conduct monthly comparisons of GuideStone Fund performance in Addepar against internal reports. Perform extensive data reconciliation in Addepar and Excel.
  • Support the Investment Services accounting function: Ensure consistency across the Investment Book of Record and the Custodial Book of Record by performing the Accounting Book of Record. Conduct daily research on discrepancies in private fund transactions by analyzing records from custodian and investment data. Generate monthly preliminary, custodian, transaction, accounting, and performance reports for all clients. Collaborate with the Investment Services team to identify necessary updates to the system. Gather relevant information from manager portals and data providers, input acquired data into the system, and conduct regular checks on all records. Calculate and produce quarterly advisory fees and bills for all clients.
  • Conduct database analysis and research as required to support the Investment Services marketing function.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Manager, Institutional Investment Account Operations.

Qualifications

  • A strong commitment to the mission of the Investment Services team in delivering exceptional investment operations support to evangelical ministries.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is mandatory for this position.
  • The ideal candidate should aspire to pursue advanced education or certifications such as the Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Certified Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel functions with the ability to manipulate and transform data into actionable formats.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Attention to detail, consistency, and accuracy in daily tasks.
  • Ability to enforce checks and balances on work products and utilize available resources when challenges arise.
  • Critical thinking skills to anticipate potential issues.
