Position Overview

D2 is in search of an Associate to enhance its investment team. The ideal candidate will possess an investor's perspective, capable of developing well-founded opinions while being eager to gain broad exposure to diverse asset classes and sectors. Adaptability, a willingness to undertake multiple responsibilities, and a proactive mindset are essential traits.

The Associate will engage in all aspects of the investment process, which includes thesis formulation, sourcing opportunities, financial modeling and analysis, due diligence, industry research, legal documentation, portfolio construction, and the preparation of internal information and investment materials. Additionally, the Associate will monitor portfolios and manage risks. Given D2's investment strategy, the Associate will assess opportunities from various angles and propose investment structures across the capital structure and strategies, including secured debt, unsecured debt, convertible debt, preferred equity, growth equity, joint venture partnerships, asset-based finance, or a combination thereof.

The role requires direct interaction with external stakeholders, including management teams, bankers, strategic partners, and service providers. This position is highly visible, providing direct access to D2's senior leadership, and the Associate will frequently be involved in all facets of the firm's operations.

Qualifications

  • A strong academic background with a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, or a related discipline is essential.
  • A minimum of 2-4+ years of experience in finance, particularly with exposure to specialty finance, asset-based finance, corporate credit, real estate, and structured products.
  • Previous experience in buyside roles or within financial institutions groups (FIG), securitization, real estate, or structured credit investment banking is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Excellent finance, accounting, presentation, and valuation skills are required.
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills, including data manipulation, database design, and statistical analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that effectively convey complex analyses into clear and concise investment theses, risks, and relative values.
  • Self-motivated and driven; ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, demanding, and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, creative problem-solving abilities, and adaptability.
  • Strong ethics and integrity, an ownership mentality, open-mindedness, receptiveness to feedback, and a results-oriented analytical approach.
