Key Responsibilities - Customs Brokerage
- Oversee the complete process for clients utilizing non-Laufer routing.
- Handle customs entries for clients routed through Laufer.
- Ensure precise and timely submission of Import Security Filings for non-Laufer routed clients.
- Engage with clients regarding ISF, documentation, classification, customs, and related issues.
- Verify the accuracy of commercial documents for customs clearance.
- Maintain and manage product HTS databases for clients.
- Track and monitor client shipments effectively.
- Ensure timely transmission of CBP and PGA entries for assigned clients.
- Communicate with CBP, other government agencies, forwarders, and terminals to resolve clearance challenges.
- Facilitate freight release for non-Laufer routed clients as necessary.
- Coordinate delivery for non-Laufer routed clients when required.
- Process and monitor Post Summary filings.
- Participate in ongoing training and education.
- Engage with government agencies to foster positive relationships.
- Manage billing and invoicing for clients as needed.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
- Generate system notifications for arrivals to clients and designated customs brokers.
- Review system information including vessel details, ETA, delivery locations, and product information promptly.
- Understand the credit status of clients with the company.
- Identify shipment types and select appropriate vendors for port-to-port or port-to-door deliveries.
- Track empty containers until they are returned to the terminal.
- Issue delivery orders to trucking services.
- Follow up with truckers to schedule delivery appointments with clients.
- Confirm arrivals from terminals and update the system upon delivery completion.
- Monitor empty containers until they are returned to port.
- Minimum of one year of relevant experience in customs entry writing and import operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; basic mathematical skills.
- Familiarity with international shipping and receiving protocols.
- Knowledge of Tariff and Product Classification.
- Proficient in shipping systems and automated tools.
- Ability to comprehend and follow both oral and written instructions.
- Prior experience in customs brokerage and import freight forwarding.
- Experience in document control and material tracking.
- Proficient in PC usage with strong organizational and communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
