Position Overview: We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a motivated Plasma Technology Field Engineer to become part of our innovative team. The selected candidate will ensure the operational readiness of Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology equipment, which will involve extensive global travel. We seek an individual who can swiftly address process challenges in the field during urgent breakdowns, warranty services, and contractual obligations, providing expert technical troubleshooting and customer interaction. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of the risks associated with hazardous materials and manage these effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with all relevant stakeholders, ensuring feedback is relayed to Service Management, Process Management, and Sales Teams for accurate record-keeping.
  • Demonstrate the performance of installed tools at customer locations to meet acceptance criteria, which may require international travel.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the technology to facilitate effective troubleshooting and root cause analysis, optimizing both process and equipment performance.
  • Conduct training sessions for customers at both our facilities and their sites.
  • Adhere to the Company's Health and Safety and ISO9001 Quality protocols in all tasks.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Team to ensure alignment with customer expectations and provide relevant background information.
  • Maintain accurate records of system status, warranty timelines, parts supplied, service contracts, and failures for trend analysis.
  • Keep project files updated with significant information.
  • Document all expenses incurred on behalf of the Company accurately.
  • Utilize specialized knowledge of technology and associated hazards to support the implementation of appropriate systems.
The Ideal Candidate will be a self-motivated, diligent, and enthusiastic team player capable of working independently and managing their own schedule. The Field Engineer should be innovative with strong lateral thinking skills to identify opportunities for technological advancements, with a strong focus on customer service. A relevant degree in science or engineering, preferably in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, along with substantial experience in the semiconductor industry or a related academic environment, is essential for success in this role. Experience with thin film measurement techniques (e.g., SEM, AFM) and familiarity with Ion Beam (Deposition and/or Etch) or general deposition/etch processes is required. A willingness to travel frequently is essential.

Additional Qualifications:
  • A relevant degree in science or engineering, preferably in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in thin film measurement techniques (e.g., SEM, AFM).
  • Experience with at least one of the following: Ion Beam (Deposition and/or Etch) or general deposition/etch processes.
  • Significant experience in the semiconductor industry or relevant academic experience.
  • Self-motivated, diligent, and enthusiastic with a professional approach to independent work.

Compensation: The expected salary for this position aligns with California regulations, ranging from $130,000 to $150,000, with actual compensation determined by experience and other permissible factors.
