Primary Objective

:

Facilitate engaging learning experiences for students, fostering their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development through visual arts education. Empower students to acquire the necessary skills and competencies to thrive in society.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid Texas teaching certification in visual arts for the assigned educational level
  • ESL Certification preferred or required within two years of employment for new hires

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient knowledge of assigned subjects
  • Understanding of design and delivery methods that enhance student achievement
  • Capability to instruct and manage student behavior effectively
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

  • Student teaching or approved internship experience
  • Required experience in 3-D Art and Ceramics

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Strategies

  • Design and execute lesson plans aligned with district curriculum requirements.
  • Prepare lessons accommodating diverse student learning styles.
  • Deliver subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies.
  • Plan and utilize effective instructional strategies, materials, and resources tailored to individual student needs.
  • Assess student learning styles and adapt instructional activities accordingly.
  • Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula for students with special needs as per Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve instructional goals and objectives.
  • Supervise and assign responsibilities to teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Integrate technology to enhance the educational process.
  • Guide students in evaluating and improving their study techniques.
  • Regularly assess student progress through various assessment methods and adjust instructional plans as needed.
  • Take on extracurricular responsibilities as assigned and support approved activities.
  • Exhibit proficient artistic skills within the classroom environment.
  • Assist in selecting instructional materials and resources.
  • Participate in district visual arts events, competitions, and exhibitions.
  • Maintain a professional, ethical, and responsible demeanor.

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Establish a classroom environment conducive to learning and development.
  • Manage student behavior and enforce discipline in accordance with district policies.
  • Ensure the safety of students, materials, and facilities.
  • Stay informed about safety protocols related to art supplies and equipment.

Communication

  • Serve as a positive role model and advocate for the school district's mission.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Foster professional relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to convey information clearly.
  • Engage with the community to promote the district's mission and goals.
  • Recognize community needs and initiate relevant activities.
  • Employ effective techniques for involving parents and the community.

Professional Development

  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance job-related skills.
  • Attend faculty meetings and participate in staff committees as required.
  • Adhere to all relevant laws and district policies.

Policy Compliance and Reporting

  • Stay informed about and comply with district and school regulations.
  • Attend meetings to review and revise visual arts curriculum and policies.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required.
  • Follow district handbooks, policies, and the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Adhere to district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain technology proficiency to meet current and future educational needs.
  • Implement alternative instructional methods as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Oversee assigned teacher aides and student teachers.

Evaluation

Job performance will be evaluated according to district policies and the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS).

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computers and peripherals.

Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
