Visual Arts Educator @ Alief ISD

Primary Objective
:Facilitate engaging learning experiences for students that promote their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development through the exploration of visual arts. Empower students to cultivate the skills and competencies necessary for success in society.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Valid teaching certification in visual arts for the assigned level
- ESL Certification preferred or required within two years of employment for new hires
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient knowledge of assigned subjects
- Understanding of instructional design and delivery for optimal student achievement
- Capability to instruct and manage student behavior effectively
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
- Student teaching or an approved internship experience
- Experience in 3-D Art and Ceramics is essential
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Strategies
- Design and execute lesson plans that align with the district's curriculum.
- Create lessons that accommodate diverse student learning styles.
- Deliver subject matter in accordance with guidelines set by educational authorities and district policies.
- Utilize suitable instructional strategies, materials, and equipment tailored to individual student needs.
- Assess student learning styles and adapt instructional activities accordingly.
- Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula for students with special needs as per their Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Work with colleagues to establish and implement instructional goals and methods.
- Supervise and assign tasks to teacher aides and volunteers.
- Integrate technology to enhance the educational process.
- Assist students in evaluating and improving their study habits.
- Regularly assess student progress through various evaluation methods and adjust instruction as needed.
- Take on extracurricular responsibilities as assigned, including sponsoring approved activities.
- Exhibit proficient artistic skills within the classroom environment.
- Aid in the selection of instructional materials and resources.
- Participate in district visual arts events, competitions, and exhibitions.
- Maintain professionalism and ethical conduct at all times.
Classroom Management and Organization
- Establish a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and supportive of students' development.
- Manage student behavior and enforce discipline in line with district policies.
- Ensure the safety of students, materials, and equipment.
- Stay informed about safety protocols related to art supplies and equipment.
Communication
- Serve as a positive role model for students and uphold the district's mission.
- Foster open communication through conferences with parents, students, and colleagues.
- Maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders.
- Communicate information clearly and accurately.
- Advocate for the district's mission and engage the community in support of educational goals.
- Recognize community needs and initiate relevant activities.
- Employ effective techniques for community and parental involvement.
Professional Development
- Engage in staff development to enhance job-related skills.
- Attend faculty meetings and participate in committees as required.
- Adhere to all relevant laws and district policies.
Policy Compliance and Reporting
- Stay informed of and comply with all regulations and policies relevant to classroom teaching.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
- Participate in meetings to review and improve visual arts curriculum and policies.
Other Responsibilities
- Follow safety protocols and emergency procedures as outlined by the district.
- Maintain technological proficiency to meet current and future educational needs.
- Implement alternative instructional methods as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Oversee teacher aides and student teachers as assigned.
Evaluation
Job performance will be assessed in accordance with district evaluation policies.
