Primary Objective

:

Facilitate a comprehensive learning environment that promotes students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development through engagement in visual arts. Empower students to cultivate the necessary skills and competencies for successful societal participation.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid Texas teaching certification for visual arts and the designated level
  • ESL Certification preferred or required within two years of employment for new hires

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient knowledge of assigned subjects
  • Understanding of design and delivery methods that align with optimal student achievement
  • Capability to instruct and manage student behavior effectively
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

  • Student teaching or recognized internship experience
  • Required experience in 3-D Art and Ceramics

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Strategies

  • Design and execute lesson plans that meet district curriculum standards.
  • Prepare lessons accommodating various student learning styles.
  • Deliver subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Plan and utilize suitable instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment tailored to individual student needs.
  • Assess student learning styles and adapt instructional activities accordingly.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students as per Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Work alongside staff to establish and implement instructional goals and methods aligned with district requirements.
  • Supervise purposeful assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Integrate technology to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
  • Assist students in evaluating and improving their study techniques and habits.
  • Continuously assess student performance through formal and informal evaluations to inform instructional planning.
  • Take responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities and sponsor approved external activities.
  • Exhibit proficient artistic skills within the classroom environment.
  • Aid in the selection of instructional materials, including books and equipment.
  • Participate in district visual arts events, competitions, and exhibitions.
  • Maintain professional, ethical, and responsible behavior.

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Establish a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and suitable for the physical, social, and emotional growth of students.
  • Manage student behavior and enforce discipline in accordance with district policies and IEPs.
  • Ensure the safety of students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Stay informed and comply with safety protocols related to art supplies and equipment.

Communication

  • Serve as a positive role model for students, supporting the mission of the school district.
  • Foster open communication through conferences with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to convey information accurately.
  • Articulate the district's mission and goals to the community and seek support for its realization.
  • Recognize community needs and initiate activities to address them.
  • Employ effective techniques for community and parental involvement.

Professional Growth and Development

  • Engage in staff development activities to enhance job-related skills.
  • Attend faculty meetings and participate in staff committees as required.
  • Adhere to federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, UIL regulations, and district policies.

Policy, Reports, and Law

  • Stay informed and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
  • Adhere to district visual arts guidelines.
  • Attend meetings to review, create, and revise visual arts curriculum and policies.
  • Compile and maintain all required reports and documentation.
  • Follow district employee handbooks, board policies, and the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics.

Other Responsibilities

  • Adhere to district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain a level of technological competence to meet current and future needs.
  • Implement alternative instructional methods as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervision of assigned teacher aides and student teachers.

Evaluation

Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with district policy and the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS).

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computers and peripherals.

Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
