Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Art Teacher to join our team at Taylor High School. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching visual arts to students and developing their skills in a variety of mediums.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Strategies
    • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the district's curriculum program.
    • Prepare lessons that cater to different learning styles and abilities.
    • Present subject matter in accordance with state and district guidelines.
    • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment to meet individual student needs.
    • Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to inform instructional activities.
    • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
    • Work with other staff members to plan and implement instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
    • Supervise teacher aides and volunteers as needed.
    • Use technology to enhance the teaching and learning process.
    • Assist students in developing effective study habits and skills.
    • Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal assessments.
    • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in artistic skills within the classroom setting.
    • Assist in selecting instructional materials and resources.
    • Participate in district-defined visual arts activities, competitions, and exhibitions.
    • Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior.
  • Classroom Management and Organization
    • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and promotes physical, social, and emotional development.
    • Manage student behavior and administer discipline in accordance with district policies and procedures.
    • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
    • Comply with safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Communication
    • Present a positive role model for students and support the mission of Alief ISD.
    • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
    • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
    • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
    • Articulate the district's mission and goals to the community and solicit support.
    • Demonstrate awareness of district and community needs and initiate activities to meet identified needs.
    • Use effective techniques for community and parent involvement.
  • Professional Growth and Development
    • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
    • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
    • Comply with federal and state laws, district policies, and procedures.
  • Policy, Reports, and Law
    • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
    • Comply with district visual arts guidelines.
    • Attend meetings to review, create, and revise visual arts curriculum, policies, procedures, and activities.
    • Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documents.
    • Adhere to district employee handbooks, board policies, and applicable laws.
  • Other
    • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
    • Maintain a high level of technology competence to meet the needs of Alief ISD.
    • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Supervisory Responsibilities

Assigned teacher aide(s) and student teacher(s).

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy and the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS).
