Job Overview

Aviation Specialties Unlimited is seeking a seasoned leader to oversee all aspects of our manufacturing operations. As the Director of Manufacturing, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence and ensuring the highest standards of product quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the manufacturing of products, ensuring production, performance, and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs, identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing lean manufacturing principles.
  • Monitor production metrics and KPIs to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe work environment and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health, and safety staff.
  • Identify and share training opportunities for staff to build and improve their skills.
  • Organize department management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations.
  • Work with VP Business Operations to develop and manage operating budget.
  • Deliver progress and production reports to Leadership Team as requested.
  • Maintain and update manufacturing processes in conjunction with changes to engineering drawings and/or new processes and materials.
  • Write and update manufacturing SOPs and work instructions for all production processes and functions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management or a related field or equivalent experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years experience working in manufacturing with at least 5 years specifically in production management. Demonstrated expertise in optimizing manufacturing processes and resources.
  • At least 3 years of successful leadership or supervisory experience with a proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and principals, with a strong preference for experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated capacity to influence and collaborate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating systems and familiarity with CADD-driven software. Ability to leverage technology to enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously and effectively prioritize workload.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods at a desk or computer, capacity to lift up to 25 lbs, proficiency in assembling objects and using various tools, skill in making precisely coordinated movements to assemble very small objects, and navigate manufacturing areas quickly and safely.
