Job Overview

EPIC Health System LLC is seeking a skilled Medical Scribe Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Scribe Specialist, you will work closely with physicians and healthcare providers in an outpatient primary care clinic, assisting with documentation of patient visits in real time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Documentation Support: Accurately document patient encounters, including medical histories, physical exams, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions during office visits.
  • Charting: Enter patient information into the electronic health record (EHR) system under the direction of the physician or provider.
  • Real-time Transcription: Transcribe physician notes and medical orders into the EHR as dictated by the provider during patient interactions.
  • Follow-up Coordination: Assist in the preparation of any required documentation for follow-up visits, referrals, and lab orders.
  • Patient Interaction: Provide support during patient exams by gathering and documenting relevant clinical data such as vitals and reviewing the patient's medical history.
  • Compliance: Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring patient information confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Clerical Assistance: Assist the physician or provider with clerical tasks such as preparing charts, managing the workflow of documentation, and organizing patient records.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; medical transcription or medical assistant training preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience as a medical scribe or in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
    • Proficient in typing and computer usage, particularly with EHR systems.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
