Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide professional and specialist legal advice to IMDEX businesses and departments across the group on legal issues, and the potential legal implications of corporate transactions, commercial arrangements, business initiatives, and projects. Responsibility extends across all of North America (USA, Canada, and Mexico). The Senior Legal Counsel is part of the legal team that carries a collective responsibility to ensure the provision of quality legal services to IMDEX and to manage, maintain, and further develop a compliance framework for the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and operational support to the business' operations, including commercial and contractual advice and support.
  • Review, draft, and support business to negotiate non-standard contracts to align with business objectives.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain contract templates and precedents required by the business, collaborating with others as required.
  • Educate internal clients on risks and cost implications of contracts established and proposed amendments, while providing alternate options where possible.
  • Assist with the resolution and legal support of contract disputes, potential breach of contract issues, and termination of contracts.
  • Provide legal advice and support for legal claims, disputes, and potential disputes.
Requirements
  • A current unrestricted Practicing certificate.
  • Between 5 – 10 years post-admission experience in North America, gained within a top-tier legal firm or well-regarded in-house legal team.
