UTILITY PERSON

Position Overview:
This role is essential for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all dining and kitchenware within the establishment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and manage dishwashing equipment efficiently.
  • Monitor dishwasher temperatures to ensure they are within required specifications and verify that cleaning agents are correctly connected.
  • Conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection of the dishwashing machines at the end of each day.
  • Sweep and mop floors, inspecting for any broken items or hazards that need to be addressed.
  • Clean various surfaces including walls, tables, racks, sinks, floor mats, and disposal areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness of ovens, hoods, filters, drains, hot boxes, and ceiling vents.
  • Regularly empty all waste receptacles.
  • Undertake special cleaning assignments as directed.
  • Follow safety protocols when operating equipment and handling cleaning chemicals, understanding the associated hazards.
  • Know the appropriate temperatures for washing, rinsing, and soaking all kitchen items.
  • Receive and organize deliveries, ensuring stock is placed in designated areas.
  • Adhere to sanitation standards for items that cannot be washed in the dishwasher.
  • Ensure the loading dock and dumpster areas are kept clean and orderly.

Additional Duties:

  • Comply with all operational guidelines, procedures, and policies set forth by the organization, including those outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Be flexible with scheduling to meet the varying demands of the business, which operates continuously throughout the week.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Capability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items.
