Job Purpose and Reporting Structure

Under the direction of the New Product Engineering Manager, the Project Engineer II is responsible for managing projects from design stage to production approval, including tooling, fixtures, gauging, production routings, schedules, dimensional approval, costs, profitability, and customer contact/correspondence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures, and housekeeping standards.
  • Prioritize customer satisfaction, timeliness, and quality.
  • Develop and facilitate intermediate part number projects, including significant part redesign and complex mold setups for solidification, challenging secondary operations, component sub-assemblies, and subcontract selection/support on multiple projects.
  • Manage projects in advance markets such as the automotive, aerospace, defense, and/or medical markets.
  • Support intermediate quality responsibilities for new part projects by creating customer quality documentation, identifying and reaching resolution on gaps/conflicts, and supporting customer complaints.
  • Independently develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods through new part sampling, manufacturing feedback, and customer feedback.
  • Contribute to operational review meetings with the executive team.
  • Participate in company advancement projects.
  • Apply investment casting knowledge to improve operational performance in Dip/Dewax, tooling design, melt, and heat treat.
  • Determine process steps, tooling, and gauging, materials, and supplies for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing.
  • Manage part number projects to meet or exceed customer expectations for timing and quality.
  • Use technical ability to influence process knowledge and manufacturing teams/leadership.
Requirements
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a technical engineering field from a four-year college or university and 3+ years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate internally with other employees to share information, solve problems, and instruct manufacturing or supporting departments.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to customers and/or suppliers and act as the primary technical contact.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret complex documents such as blueprints, shop orders, work plans, and customer specifications.
  • Must be able to write standard reports and documentation.
