Job Description

Little Star is a dynamic and rapidly expanding organization, seeking a dedicated and motivated Financial Operations Manager to enhance our financial processes in support of our growth trajectory. This individual will collaborate closely with the Chief Financial Officer and operational teams, overseeing daily, monthly, and annual accounting tasks. Additionally, they will be instrumental in formulating financial strategies and educating management on financial matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure adherence to GAAP standards and regulatory obligations.
  • Influence financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Deliver comprehensive financial updates to senior leadership by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting relevant data.
  • Develop, implement, and uphold financial controls and guidelines.
  • Assess and confirm financial health by conducting audits and providing necessary information to external auditors.
  • Prepare budgets by establishing timelines; gathering, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; and recommending strategic plans.
  • Foster supportive relationships with business unit managers regarding financial performance, often educating those without financial backgrounds.
  • Act on behalf of the CFO in their absence.
  • Ensure confidentiality of the organization's financial information.
  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies and relevant regulations.
  • Serve as a positive role model for all staff, families, and children associated with Little Star, exemplifying reliability, accuracy, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Contribute to enhancing team spirit and overall morale.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, preferably in accounting or finance; Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
  • Over 10 years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Proficient in technology, including Microsoft Office, internet applications, and email.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A collaborative team player with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging based on the audience and situation.
  • Discretion in handling sensitive matters.
  • Ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals, both internally and externally.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position oversees the Staff Accountant.

Work Environment:

This role operates within a professional office setting, routinely utilizing standard office and audiovisual equipment.

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The employee frequently stands, walks, uses hands to manipulate objects, and reaches with hands and arms. Must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds.

Travel:

Travel is generally not anticipated for this role but may occur occasionally for remote site visits or training events as necessary.

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully complete initial and ongoing criminal history, background, and record checks, including driving history checks.
  • Must utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as provided by Little Star when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
