Job Title: Satellite Communications Systems Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Satellite Communications Systems Engineer to join our team at Peraton. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining all equipment associated with Military Satellite Communications Systems (MILSATCOM) facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations and Maintenance: Perform Operations and Maintenance (O&M) on SATCOM and FAB-T satellite stations, including all hardware and software associated with their specific systems.
  • Network Management: Maintain all MILSATCOM and DRSN network memberships, Satellite Access Authorizations (SAA), and Authorization to Operate (ATOs) as tasked by the Government.
  • Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor approved Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI) for all MILSATCOM circuits, trunks, etc., that may or will cause a loss of service to customers.
  • Log Maintenance: Maintain a Master Station Log (MSL).
  • Supply Chain Management: Assist the government with supply processes, including Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA).
  • Training and Support: Provide familiarization and annual refresher training on the Integrated Service Telephones (IST) and Touch Screen Executive Telephone (TXP) for all users/customers of those devices.
  • Inventory Management: Support inventories of Prescribed Load List (PLL), spares, TMDE, Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI), Communication Security (COMSEC) material, Property Book, and incidental items.
  • COMSEC Management: Perform duties as either a Primary or Alternate COMSEC Local Element (LE) (hand receipt holder) for MILSATCOM COMSEC to the MDA KOAM.
  • Crypto Device Updates: Perform Crypto device updates and perform CRO duties.
  • Node Site Coordinator: Perform duties as either a Primary or Alternate Node Site Coordinator (NSC) for MILSATCOM.
  • Site Management: Support Site Management in the collection of data/artifacts, as necessary, to ensure 100% CDRL compliance.
  • Access and Security: Gain and maintain access to Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS)/Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) or other classified systems in support of this work effort.
  • Upgrade and Maintenance: Support all Government MILSATCOM upgrades, enhancements, lifecycle, and other equipment improvements.
  • Training and Compliance: Complete and maintain all initial and annual training requirements, to include but not limited to Threat Awareness and Reporting Program (TARP), Intelligence Oversight (IO), Safety, Hazmat, New Equipment, Sustaining Equipment, Cybersecurity Awareness, Cyber Security Fundamentals, Antiterrorism, iSalute, Force Protection, Operations Security, Escort, and all Government and Peraton required training.
  • Travel and Support: Support, as required, mission operations at other CONUS and OCONUS locations for an extended period.
  • Escort Support: Provide escort support of uncleared contractors and vendors, as needed.
  • Site Inspections: Support site inspections activities to ensure quality, safety, and compliance requirements are maintained as described in the Performance Work Statement, site specific Occupational Safety and Health Administration publications, and local/state policies/regulations.
  • Business Development: Support Peraton growth opportunities; Request for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposal (RFP), and Subject Matter Expert (SME) data calls.
  • Program Management: Support the Program Manager to ensure compliance with PWS/Task Order requirements associated with deliverables, and performance standards.
  • Customer Relationship: Support the Program Manager to ensure a collaborative relationship is maintained with our government customer.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Security Clearance: Active/current Secret Security Clearance
  • Education: High School diploma and 6 years of experience.
  • Experience: Hands-on experience with a SATCOM terminal (preferably an AN/GSC-52B and/or FAB-T)
  • Training: Graduate of a Satellite Communications Military Technical Training Course or FAB-T Military Technical Training Course or both.
  • Certification: Current DoD 8140 Security+ Certification
  • Availability: Be willing to work shifts.

  • SATCOM Knowledge: Sufficient knowledge of SATCOM theory and industry standards
  • SATCOM System Maintenance: Sufficient knowledge of SATCOM system equipment maintenance procedures, policies, and requirements for SATCOM terminals outside the prescribed assets mentioned in the job req.
  • DISA Pacific Knowledge: Knowledge of DISA Pacific practices and policies
  • C-Band SATCOM Experience: Experience working with C-Band SATCOM Terminals.
  • Computing Environment Certification: Linux and Windows Computing Environment certification is a plus.
