Role Summary
Reporting directly to the Director of Foundation and Government Support, the Grants Associate is pivotal in securing and overseeing grants while nurturing relationships with donors. This role involves close collaboration with various departments including Exhibitions, Learning and Engagement, Conservation, Finance, and Communications to support projects and initiatives aligned with the museum's goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on foundation and government funding opportunities for both unrestricted and restricted support.
  • Oversee grant processes, including requests for information and project timelines, ensuring alignment with target dates.
  • Draft and prepare letters of inquiry, proposals, and other communications related to grants.
  • Compile narrative and financial reports for foundation and government donors, adhering to project deadlines.
  • Coordinate with the Finance Department to maintain transparency in financial reporting.
  • Create donor summaries to assist in meetings with current and prospective donors.
  • Organize donor visits and maintain ongoing stewardship for a portfolio of active donors.
  • Manage event guest lists in collaboration with the events team.
  • Provide timely and accurate information in response to inquiries.
  • Track grant opportunities and activities within the deadlines calendar and donor database.
  • Monitor and report on current annual income for Foundation and Government Support.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential.
  • Experience in fundraising, particularly within arts, museum, or educational contexts, is preferred.
  • Strong writing and communication skills are necessary.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality are crucial.
  • Experience in grant writing, reporting, and prospect research is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with donor management systems is preferred.
  • Strong technological skills and literacy are required.

Position Details

  • This is a Full-Time, Non-Exempt position, requiring 35 hours per week.
  • The hourly wage for this role is $23.38.
  • This position is part of the AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit.
  • Reports to the Director of Foundation and Government Support.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to remain stationary for extended periods and perform administrative duties in an office environment.
  • A background check will be conducted after a conditional job offer.
