Mortgage Loan Originator

We are seeking a skilled Mortgage Loan Originator to join our team at Fifth Third Bank. As a Mortgage Loan Originator, you will be responsible for originating residential 1st mortgage loans for outside referrals, meeting sales and cross-selling objectives, and assuming overall responsibility for the loan from application to closing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain referral contacts with realtors, builders, and other professionals.
  • Maintain knowledge of Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date on available loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Escalate exceptions according to defined protocol.
  • Take applicant applications, complete Fannie Mae form 1003, and utilize the laptop for communication and access of daily rates, credit reports, and loan transmission.
  • Collect and deliver loan packages within set timeframes.
  • Manage pipelines for originated loans through closing and complete required management reports.
  • Communicate with branches and applicants regarding updates and progress reports.
  • Provide high levels of customer service while managing expectations.
  • Attend and participate in Consumer Lending meetings as required.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; four-year college degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines.
  • Residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
  • Federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
  • Organizational skills, strong written and verbal communications, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Proven computer skills and basic sales technique skills.
  • Strong desire to excel in a competitive environment.
  • S.A.F.E. Act registration through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
