MINIMUM PAY RATE: $16.94 per hour; $17.23 per hour after 90-day probationary period. Additional Shift Differential Incentive Pay is available for this position.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, this role involves a variety of custodial tasks aimed at maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment. The worker will exhibit knowledge of safe equipment operation while adhering to safety standards set by JJC and OSHA.

This part-time position is considered entry-level and will involve direct supervision. While prior custodial experience is advantageous, all new hires will receive training on job responsibilities and expectations. To qualify for future advancement, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties with minimal supervision, meet attendance standards, foster effective working relationships, and positively contribute to the department's environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Clean and sanitize designated areas following established cleaning protocols, including classrooms, offices, and restrooms.
2. Assist in the relocation and arrangement of furniture and equipment for events and general campus needs.
3. Help with snow removal and seasonal custodial tasks around campus buildings.
4. Participate in training sessions related to custodial duties as required.
5. Adhere to safety standards and practices as outlined by JJC and OSHA.
6. Report any damages observed in assigned areas to the Lead Custodian.
7. Operate and maintain equipment safely.
8. Contribute to departmental and college objectives.
9. Show willingness to learn and complete special projects under supervision, including carpet care, VCT care, LVT care, and window maintenance.
10. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Eagerness to learn established procedures.
3. Must pass a physical examination.
4. Ability to follow specific verbal and written instructions.
5. Dependable and courteous, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
6. Capability to lift, carry, stack, and maneuver objects regularly, with a maximum weight of 50 lbs.
7. Willingness to operate an open lift for window cleaning at heights of approximately 25 feet.
8. Must obtain and maintain a valid Driver's license within six months of hire and be able to operate a college vehicle.
9. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues and community members, demonstrating cultural competence and emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Previous custodial experience is preferred but not mandatory.
2. Proficiency in English and Spanish, both verbal and written.
3. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Familiarity with and ability to use the following equipment is required: scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, various vacuums, personnel lifts for window washing, pick-up trucks with power lift gates, trash compactors, hand carts, and related tools.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
2. The employee must be able to work safely in environments with caustic chemicals, cleaning agents, dust, and noise.
3. Frequent work under inclement weather conditions is required.
4. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate, occasionally loud. The employee must be willing to operate an open lift at heights of approximately 30 feet.
5. Knowledge of safe equipment operation and adherence to safety standards set by JJC and OSHA is essential.

WORK SCHEDULE
1. Availability for any of the three shifts is required.
2. Shift changes will be communicated with two weeks' notice.
3. A probationary period of ninety calendar days applies.
