MINIMUM PAY RATE: $16.94 per hour; $17.23 per hour after 90-day probationary period. Additional Shift Differential Incentive Pay is available for this position.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, the Custodial Services Technician performs a variety of cleaning tasks to ensure a hygienic, organized, and secure environment. This role involves adhering to safety protocols while utilizing equipment in compliance with JJC and OSHA standards.

This part-time position is entry-level, with comprehensive training provided for all new hires. Candidates aspiring for future advancement must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties with minimal supervision, maintain attendance standards, foster effective working relationships, and contribute positively to the department's atmosphere.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Execute cleaning and sanitization of designated areas following established procedures, including classrooms, offices, and restrooms.
2. Assist in the relocation and arrangement of furniture and equipment for events and campus needs.
3. Participate in seasonal maintenance tasks, such as snow removal and exterior cleaning around campus buildings.
4. Engage in training sessions related to custodial responsibilities as required.
5. Uphold safety standards as outlined by JJC and OSHA.
6. Report any damages observed in assigned areas to the Lead Custodian.
7. Ensure safe operation and upkeep of custodial equipment.
8. Contribute to departmental and institutional goals and objectives.
9. Exhibit willingness to learn and undertake special projects, including carpet care, VCT maintenance, LVT care, and window cleaning under supervision.
10. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Eagerness to learn established procedures.
3. Must successfully complete a physical examination.
4. Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
5. Courteous, reliable, and capable of working effectively with a diverse population.
6. Ability to lift, carry, stack, and maneuver objects regularly, with a maximum weight of 50 lbs.
7. Willingness to operate an open lift for window cleaning at heights of approximately 25 feet.
8. Must obtain and maintain a valid Driver's license within six months of hire and be able to operate a college vehicle.
9. Ability to build and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues and community members, demonstrating cultural competence and emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Previous custodial experience is preferred but not mandatory.
2. Proficiency in English and Spanish, both verbal and written.
3. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Familiarity with and ability to operate the following equipment is required: scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, small and large vacuums, personnel lifts for window washing, pick-up trucks with power lift gates, trash compactors, hand carts, and related tools.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors.
2. The employee must be capable of working safely in environments containing cleaning chemicals, dust, and noise.
3. Frequent work under varying weather conditions is required.
4. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate but can occasionally be loud.
5. Knowledge of safe equipment operation is essential, adhering to JJC and OSHA safety requirements.

WORK SCHEDULE
1. Availability for any of the three shifts is required.
2. Shift changes will be communicated with a two-week notice.
3. A probationary period of ninety (90) calendar days applies.
