Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Employ machine learning and statistical methods to develop scalable risk management systems.
  • Analyze and comprehend extensive historical business data to identify specific instances of risk and broader risk patterns.
  • Design, develop, and assess innovative models for effective risk management.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineering teams to implement real-time models and create new features.
  • Work alongside operations teams to enhance risk management processes.
  • Establish efficient, automated workflows for large-scale data analysis, model development, validation, and implementation.
  • Monitor overall business activities and provide clear, compelling management reports regularly.
  • Research and apply novel machine learning and statistical techniques.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in building models for business applications.
  • PhD or Master's degree with 4+ years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or similar.
  • Experience in areas such as algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, and high-performance computing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Operations Research, or a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in predictive modeling and analysis.
  • Strong breadth and depth in Machine Learning.
  • Proficient in SQL and familiar with Spark/Python/Perl or similar technologies.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven track record of building strong working relationships and fostering collaboration across technical and business teams.

Compensation Information

Our compensation reflects the labor market across various US geographic regions. The base salary for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $222,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is determined by several factors, including market location, and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon offers a comprehensive compensation package that may include equity, sign-on bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
