About the Role

Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer to join our AI Division. As a key member of our team, you will specialize in engineering solutions that support Adversarial Machine Learning (AML) research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and build well-engineered prototypes of AI systems, leveraging machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Caffe.
  • Develop and implement state-of-the-art machine learning methods, working with modern programming languages including Python, C/C++, and Java.
  • Experiment with emerging machine learning frameworks, methods, and algorithms in application domains such as computer vision, natural language processing, planning and scheduling, and robot control.
  • Collaborate with researchers and government customers to understand challenges, needs, and possible solutions, contributing to improving the overall technical capabilities of the Division.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, machine learning, electrical engineering, or a related discipline, with 8 years of experience; OR MS in the same fields with 5 years of experience; OR PhD in with 2 years of experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Legally authorized to work for Carnegie Mellon University in the United States.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time to locations outside of your home location.
