Position Overview

Van Becelaere Machine Works is seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Horizontal Mill Operator III to join our team. This role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-tolerance precision parts for various industries.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC Horizontal Machining Centers with proficiency in Fanuc controls.
  • Select and install appropriate cutting tools, ensuring optimal performance and tool life.
  • Conduct sample part and first article inspections to verify dimensional accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Replace worn or damaged cutting tools/inserts as needed, maintaining a well-stocked inventory of tooling.
  • Verify, edit, and load CNC programs, ensuring code accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to develop and refine Work Instructions, promoting clear communication and process standardization.
  • Work closely with Quality Control (QC) to uphold rigorous quality standards throughout the production process.
  • Partner with Maintenance personnel to ensure equipment functionality and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues promptly, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting and implementing process enhancements.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety by adhering to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Assist the Plant Manager and Production Supervisor in developing and maintaining the Horizontal Mill production schedule, ensuring timely completion of orders.
  • Interpret blueprints and technical drawings, utilizing precision measuring devices to inspect parts for conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain accurate job order documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Conduct yourself professionally at all times, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area within the Horizontal Mill Department, promoting a safe and efficient workspace.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of proven experience in CNC machine setup, programming, and operation.
  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency with Fanuc controls.
  • Ability to edit and write G-code programs effectively.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cutting tools for milling, drilling, tapping, boring, and other machining operations.
  • Strong safety consciousness and commitment to following established protocols.
  • Proficiency in mathematical calculations and problem-solving.
  • Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Results-oriented individual with a proactive approach to work.
  • Positive attitude and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to read and write English fluently.

Education & Experience

  • GED or High School diploma preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience is highly desirable.
