About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech Language Pathologist Assistant to join our team at KIPP Public Schools Northern California. As a key member of our special education support team, you will play a critical role in providing administrative support to our licensed Speech Language Pathologists and contributing to the development and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support in the appraisal of speech and language needs of students, including the design and implementation of remediation, instructional plans, and strategies.
  • Attend and participate in IEP team meetings, providing updates on student progress and assisting in the development of IEPs that address communication and literacy needs.
  • Implement a variety of instructional activities to meet individual language and speech goals and objectives, and provide progress updates on strategies for student achievement.
  • Assist with reports and data collection, as permitted by IEP parameters and regional and school-specific guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to deliver support that promotes student success in general education classes.
  • Consult with special education and general education teachers, other KIPP personnel, and parents to understand intervention strategies and model strategies for staff that promote student achievement.
  • Support and facilitate professional development activities and objectives for general education staff and school administrators, as needed.
  • Report on the social and educational needs of students within the scope of the speech and language programs.
  • Develop parent education programs to assist parents in understanding and remedying speech and language needs, when appropriate.
Requirements
  • Receipt of a bachelor's degree in communication sciences and disorders from a regionally or nationally accredited institution and/or professional training in communication sciences and disorders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the administration of a speech and language program.
  • Knowledge of federal and state special education law and best practices for special education.
  • Completion of relevant externships.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Vietnamese) preferred.
  • Demonstrated success with students from educationally underserved areas.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and implementation skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multiple constituencies.
  • Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP Public Schools Northern California and our student values.
  • A firm belief that all children will learn and can achieve at high levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  • Ability to travel within Northern California with own transportation.

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and transportation benefits. The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $83,138 based on years of experience.
