Job Summary

The Operations and Facilities Management Department at Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician III to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities, including 65 buildings covering over 11.1 million gross square feet of space.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as primary building services contact for assigned areas, prioritizing work and making an initial assessment of conditions and service needs.
  • Plan and complete general maintenance repairs, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work.
  • Assist with the preparation of vacant units for new tenants and estimate labor time, requisition materials, and request assistance from other maintenance staff as needed.
  • Monitor outside service schedules and equipment installation by outside contractors and interface with customers to schedule and coordinate any interruptions in service.
  • Perform a variety of tasks involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other maintenance-related activities.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both indoors and outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions. You will be exposed to dust, dirt, and other environmental hazards, and may be required to work in areas with biohazardous substances.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in a maintenance trade (3 years minimum).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications in a maintenance trade (e.g. HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
  • Experience with building management systems and software.
  • Ability to climb structures and work at heights.
