Job Summary

The Operations and Facilities Management Department at Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Technician III to join their team. As a key member of the department, this individual will be responsible for providing exceptional building services to support the medical campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary building services contact for assigned areas, prioritizing work and making initial assessments of conditions and service needs.
  • Support the Repair, Renewal, and Maintenance Supervisor in the preventative maintenance (PM) and renewal of the door program.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair all swinging, sliding, and roll-up doors, both manually operated and automatic within assigned areas.
  • Estimate labor time, requisition materials needed, and request other maintenance staff assistance for long-range projects.
  • Monitor outside service schedules and equipment installation by outside contractors.
  • Interface with customers to schedule/coordinate any interruptions in service (utility outages).
  • Perform a variety of tasks involving all swinging, sliding, and roll-up doors, both manually operated and automatic within assigned areas.
  • Keep building services supervisors aware of facility conditions, problems, and needs.
  • Maintain effective communication with other facility maintenance coordinators and other maintenance staff.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both indoors and outdoors, in dusty and dirty places such as pits and equipment spaces. The individual must be able to lift and carry tools and material weighing more than 50 pounds and be able to raise and carry with assistance items weighing 200 pounds.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
  • Relevant experience in skill trade functions (3 years).
  • A Class E (MO) or Class D (IL) license and a good driving record are required for this position.
