Facilities Technician III

The Operations and Facilities Management Department at Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a skilled Facilities Technician III to join their team. This role will be responsible for performing locksmithing duties, including installing, repairing, and re-keying cylinders, as well as evaluating and repairing door locks.
The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in skill trade functions and be able to perform duties in a manner consistent with the university's core mission and guiding principles.
Key Responsibilities- Installs, repairs, and re-keys cylinders, evaluates and repairs door locks, fabricates and provides timely maintenance, and inspects locks and doors to ensure they function properly to maintain a safe and secure campus.
- Cuts or duplicates keys from existing keys, patterns, or codes. Stamp keys.
- Orders, receives, and organizes incoming shipments.
- Estimates labor time, requisitions materials needed, and requests other maintenance staff assistance for long-range or complex projects.
- Monitors outside service schedules and equipment installation by outside contractors. Schedules/coordinates any outages or service interruptions. Follows through on work in progress to verify proper facility conditions are restored.
- Maintains equipment inventory, spare parts, and components for supported devices and attaches labels to record relevant data.
- Assists in setting up maintenance schedules and data forms. Documents work performed in a computerized maintenance system.
- Cleans and maintains equipment used and equipment spaces.
- Keeps all stakeholders aware of facility conditions, needs, and problems.
- Uses a work order management system to enter and retrieve work orders and perform repairs and installs as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Works inside and outside, in dusty and dirty places such as pits and equipment spaces where temperatures may exceed 100 degrees and equipment may be oily and greasy.
Exposed to wet and cold conditions and noise and vibration from operation equipment.
Ability to work in morgues, gross anatomy, and pathology laboratories where human or animal bodies or parts may be within view of the worker.
Employee may be required to work in the vicinity of labs containing biohazardous radioactive substances.
Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
- Relevant experience in skill trade functions (3 years).
