Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to lead technical projects and phases of projects involving the design and development of new or core products and/or processes. The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for leading technical projects, managing technical scope, cost, and schedule, and ensuring timely and efficient completion of engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Management: Develop project objectives by reviewing technical project proposals and plans, and conferring with management and related teams. Ensure projects meet schedule commitments, cost results, and technical expectations through effective project leadership.
  • Technical Leadership: Create project plans and milestones by studying product or system design and customer technical program requirements. Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements and assigning staffing and resources.
  • Customer Interface: Maintain frequent formal and informal customer interface to present project status, determine feasibility of changing customer requirements, and propose and/or negotiate changes in schedules or methodology.
  • Cost and Schedule Management: Control projects costs by reviewing non-recurring and recurring costs, monitoring and approving quotes and expenditures. Maintain efforts within defined cost and schedule constraints.
  • Technical Expertise: Prepare and review technical project work prepared by others by applying engineering principles and technical judgment. Advise and monitor regulatory and intellectual property concerns.
  • Engineering Standards and Processes: Ensure consistent engineering standards, processes, and documentation methods are used in project deliverables. Establish and maintain engineering history files, project files, and related information.
  • Professional Development: Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops, reviewing technical publications, benchmarking best practices, and/or participating in professional associations.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (BS) (or Professional Engineer (PE) certificate) in an engineering or science technical discipline; master's degree (MS) or MBA preferred.
  • Experience: Demonstrate ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 7-9 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Has thorough in-depth knowledge of engineering domain principles, concepts, product standards, and techniques, industry practices, regulations, and policies. Ability to apply broad knowledge of other related engineering or scientific field to area of expertise.
  • Communication and Project Management Skills: Ability to effectively communicate and present status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision. Effective project management and organizational skills.
