Primary Objective:

Deliver exceptional customer service within the Center Store (Grocery) Department. Responsible for upholding standards as per the standard practice manual, enhancing sales through outstanding customer service, and minimizing losses through effective standard practice utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster an environment of enthusiastic customer engagement with a focus on prompt, friendly, and precise service to ensure a positive shopping experience
  • Be courteous and supportive to fellow associates
  • Regularly clean shelves and shelf tag moldings with a damp cloth while restocking
  • Maintain proper shelf allocations by stocking from tag to tag
  • Ensure only saleable products are placed on the shelves
  • Adhere to policies and guidelines for ordering, receiving, preparing, conditioning, and displaying merchandise
  • Utilize company tools such as the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering (CAO) effectively
  • Comprehend and strictly follow company guidelines, policies, and standard practices
  • Understand and implement Food Safety and Workplace Safety protocols
  • Identify and rectify any unsafe conditions that could lead to accidents for associates or customers
  • Report all incidents involving associates and customers according to established procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
  • Wear the Food Lion uniform, including a name badge, while on duty, maintaining a neat and professional appearance in line with the dress code
  • Complete all required Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet, and Training Aid courses successfully
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Willingness and ability to learn various tasks and technical job requirements
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to resolve issues
  • Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions
  • Must be capable of fulfilling the physical demands of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to operate computers and other communication systems necessary for job functions
  • Perform repetitive hand and arm movements
  • Lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Push or pull up to 75 lbs. on occasion
  • Stand for the entire shift, with frequent short walks
  • Handle various substances related to cleaning and packaging materials
  • Reach and grasp frequently at waist level; occasionally above shoulder or below waist level
  • Meet established activity standards for the position
  • Tolerate working in extreme hot or cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time
