Job Summary

Michaels Stores is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our store operations and customer experience initiatives. As a key member of our store leadership team, you will be responsible for delivering sales and profits while protecting our assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Excellence: Lead the operational processes to deliver sales and profits while protecting our assets.
  • Inventory Management: Provide a well-merchandised and well-in-stock store by leading and supporting inventory management processes.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of well-trained team members to deliver a customer-centric shopping experience.
  • Customer Service: Deliver friendly customer service and ensure that customers have a positive shopping experience.
  • Assistance to Store Manager: Assist the Store Manager in planning and supporting the scheduling and execution of store workload.
  • Compliance and Standards: Assist the Store Manager in leading and managing adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Company programs to ensure compliance to applicable laws and requirements.
  • Visual Merchandising: Manage and execute the visual merchandising standards in store and execution of feature space and seasonal layouts.
  • Shrink and Safety: Manage and execute shrink and safety programs.
  • Training and Development: Train, observe, and coach the team to achieve results; participate in the performance management process of your team; support Talent Development; utilize the leadership competencies for continued self-development.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; remain positive and respectful, even in difficult situations; promote commitment to the organization's vision and values; project a positive image and serve as a role model for others.
Requirements
  • Retail Management Experience: Retail management leadership experience is required.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to remain standing for long periods of time; ability to move throughout the store; regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching; lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
  • Work Environment: Public retail store setting taking care of our customers; all public areas are climate-controlled; some stock rooms may not be climate-controlled; some outdoor work if assigned to retrieve shopping carts or while unloading trucks.
