Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Interventional Radiology Nurse to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our Interventional Radiology department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Performs on the Interventional Radiology procedure team as circulator, scrub, or monitor, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of procedures.
  • Coordinates patient care by ensuring patients are correctly prepped for procedures, and that necessary information, such as history and physical (H&P), is timely and accurate.
  • Administers medications to patients, including critically ill patients, and reports any abnormal information to physicians in a timely manner.
  • Performs hemostasis safely and properly with or without vascular devices, ensuring the well-being of patients.
  • Enters patient orders and charges accurately, and checks charges to ensure their correctness.
  • Provides education to patients and families based on assessed needs, documents education provided, and keeps them informed of tests and treatments.
  • Assists families to the cardiology area or cath lab area by escorting when necessary.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or equivalent education for licensing.
  • No experience required, but a strong desire to learn and grow in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking, with frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry, with occasional lifting/moving of patients.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
Professional Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
