As an Automotive Repair Technician I, you will operate under general oversight to execute all necessary procedures for diagnosing and performing both mechanical and aesthetic repairs on vehicles, adhering to established CarMax protocols and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver and uphold outstanding customer service through effective communication before, during, and after the repair process, as outlined by CarMax's "Voice of Customer" initiatives.
- Manage and oversee the inventory of replacement parts and supplies.
- Utilize and maintain tools and equipment efficiently.
- Conduct mechanical and cosmetic repairs, including the diagnosis of various vehicle systems.
- Adhere to CarMax's standardized operational guidelines.
- Perform vehicle inspections in accordance with CarMax Quality Standards as necessary.
- Execute state inspections when required.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the workspace following CarMax's 5S principles.
Review repair orders for accuracy in labor, parts, and sublet documentation, including the initiation and completion of repair orders.
- Collect payments for services rendered and manage financial transactions.
- Utilize proprietary and universal software systems, including CarMax Electronic Repair Order and Mitchell.
- Provide expertise and guidance to fellow associates.
- Assist other associates and managers in various tasks, including vehicle assessment, preparation, receiving, and transferring.
Candidates must possess the ability to:
- Complete New Associate Orientation Training - Operations.
- Finish Kronos Training for Hourly Associates.
- Maintain a valid Refrigerant Recycling License.
- Where applicable, hold current ASE Certifications in Steering and Suspension (A4) and Brakes (A5).
- Read, interpret, and document data accurately to maintain precise records.
- Manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Lift items weighing up to 50lbs.
- Communicate effectively with customers and associates in person and over the phone.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrate manual dexterity in both hands and arms.
- Ensure compliance with CarMax, O.S.H.A., and EPA regulations.
- Show exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Display excellent telephone etiquette and active listening abilities.
- Combination of office, workshop, and outdoor settings, potentially involving exposure to noisy and/or adverse weather conditions.
- May require prolonged periods of walking or standing.
- Flexible working hours, including shifts that may encompass evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Wear CarMax attire (provided by the company) at all times while on duty.
- Comply with all CarMax, O.S.H.A., and EPA regulations, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment and proper waste disposal practices.
- Adhere to all CarMax policies, including those related to Attendance, Asset Protection, Integrity, and Professional Appearance.
