Clinical Support Specialist

PRIMARY ROLE:
The incumbent is tasked with supporting both clinical and administrative functions within the healthcare facility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitates patient care by updating medical records, including medications and allergies, measuring vital signs, preparing examination rooms, and performing various medical tests such as EKGs and phlebotomy.
- Prepares patients for examinations and assists healthcare providers and nursing staff during procedures related to direct patient care.
- Collaborates with care teams to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of patient records, proactively reviewing patient lists for updates and communicating changes to the care team.
- Collects relevant clinical information from patients and accurately documents it in the electronic health record system. Aids in scheduling and monitoring patient appointments.
- Ensures a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and their families, adhering to organizational standards, with a focus on effective communication both in person and via phone.
- Handles general inventory and administrative tasks within the medical office.
- Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization within the workplace to ensure a sanitary environment for patient care delivery.
- Encourages a collaborative and supportive workplace atmosphere to uphold high-quality services for patients.
- Delivers culturally competent care to patients of all ages, managing all necessary communications related to patient care.
- Engages in and promotes Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) guidelines and procedures, fulfilling all electronic health record responsibilities required for patient care.
- Participates in mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
- Documents all patient interactions and care in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Adheres to departmental policies and procedures as well as organizational standards.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
- Proficient analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent computer proficiency.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must hold and maintain a valid Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA/CMA/RMA).
- At least 1 year of clinical experience is required.
- Current CPR/BLS certification is mandatory.
- Experience in a large healthcare facility, academic medical center, outpatient care setting, or tribal health services is preferred.
