Position Overview

This role is centered on facilitating the effective transition of students into the VCE VM and/or VET programs available through the educational institution. The leader of VCE VM and VET also plays a crucial role in nurturing the essential partnerships the institution maintains with local partner schools, ensuring a collaborative approach to student transitions and pathways. This position is also known as the 'Pathways Out' Leader, dedicated to supporting students not only within the VCE VM and VET frameworks but also in their exit from the institution when deemed the most suitable option for their individual circumstances.

Time Commitment : 5 Sessions

The responsibilities of the VCE VM and VET Leader include:

  • Establishing and maintaining effective, reciprocal relationships with all external providers, including other educational institutions and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).
  • Being a visible and approachable figure in student management and well-being to ensure smooth transitions for incoming students, particularly those enrolled in VCE VM and VET.
  • Ensuring that staff maintain effective communication and collaborative processes with teaching staff from partner schools in relevant subject areas.
  • Coordinating the sharing of data between the institution and external providers for VET students.
  • Leading the VCE VM and VET initiatives within the College's RTO partnerships.
  • Overseeing the tracking of student outcomes and presenting this information at relevant institutional forums.
  • Organizing activities and guest speakers pertinent to student pathways.
  • Leading and coordinating the Careers and VET administration teams.
  • Supporting the VCE VM coordinator in monitoring and assisting VET educators.
  • Coordinating structured work placements for VET students.
  • Ensuring that all students receive personalized pathways counseling.
  • Assisting students in planning their future pathways.
  • Leading and coordinating programs for students transitioning from Year 10 to Year 12 and onward to tertiary education or employment.
  • Organizing and overseeing the annual Career Expo.
  • Collaborating with Teaching & Learning and Domain leaders to integrate explicit pathways processes into the curriculum.
  • Developing, monitoring, and evaluating the pathways section of the Annual Implementation Plan.
  • Leading the organization of information sessions for students and parents regarding course counseling.
  • Ensuring all Year 12 students complete the necessary application processes.
  • Assisting student managers in identifying suitable pathways for students considered 'at risk.'
  • Supporting VCE VM staff in the VET components of the VCE VM.
  • Participating in meetings with the VET Cluster, Local Learning and Employment Networks (LLEN), and other regional career groups.
  • Developing and maintaining connections with community organizations that provide diverse pathways for students.
  • Engaging in various networks that link the institution to the broader community and employer engagement events.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the Principal.

Key Responsibilities

Recognizing the significance of leadership and management combined with exemplary teaching practices for enhanced student learning outcomes, the primary responsibilities of leading teachers may encompass but are not limited to:

  • Directing and managing the execution of whole-school improvement initiatives aligned with the strategic plan and institutional priorities.
  • Overseeing the implementation of improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Leading the provision of professional development and formulating individual and team development plans for teaching staff within the school's priorities.
  • Managing staff performance and development through reviews.
  • Conducting demonstration lessons.
  • Guiding the development of the institution's assessment and reporting policies and practices.
  • Implementing school operations and policies concerning student welfare and discipline.
  • Contributing to curriculum development in major learning areas and participating in broader curriculum initiatives.
  • Addressing general discipline matters beyond the scope of classroom management.
  • Contributing to the overall leadership and management of the institution.
  • Assisting in the development of proposals for consideration by the school council.
  • Formulating and managing the school's code of conduct.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the relevant teaching authority and possess qualifications or demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum areas.

VIT LANTITE Requirements

To be eligible for employment, individuals must have provisional or full registration from the relevant teaching authority and must have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements if they graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after a specified date.
