Milhouse Engineering & Construction is expanding its operations and is in search of a Senior Protection & Controls Design Engineer to take on reviewing responsibilities.
This position is hybrid and will be based in South Plainfield, New Jersey.
Role Responsibilities:
As a Senior Protection & Controls Design Engineer, you will:
- Design protection and control systems for electrical utility projects, specifically for transmission and distribution voltages.
- Demonstrate proficiency in creating protection and control drawings, including one-line diagrams, relay protection, control schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Collaborate effectively with various engineering disciplines, including electrical layout designers and project engineers.
- Review and provide guidance on designs completed by junior engineers and other A&E firms.
- Conduct site assessments to evaluate field conditions and verify drawing accuracy.
- Offer technical expertise to construction teams and coordinate with vendors on technical documentation.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to the enhancement of design standards and processes.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or higher; a Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred.
- Over 8 years of experience in electrical utility, particularly with substations and switching stations.
- In-depth knowledge of protective relay schemes, SCADA systems, and metering.
- Experience in leading complex design projects and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
