About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Assistant Vice President of Finance with extensive experience in higher education finance to join our team at Alamance Community College.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the finance office, ensuring effective financial operations and providing crucial financial support for construction projects, grants, and technology.
  • Supervise and mentor finance staff, providing guidance and ensuring high performance and professional development.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements and reports, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and institutional policies.
  • Provide financial oversight and support for construction projects, including budgeting and cost analysis.
  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure that financial aspects of construction projects are effectively managed and reported.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support institutional objectives and long-term goals.
  • Identify opportunities for financial improvement and efficiency within the institution.
  • Work closely with senior leadership and other departments to provide financial insights and support for institutional initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative and transparent financial environment within the finance office and across the institution.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance and/or accounting.
  • 5-10 years accounting supervisory experience in higher education.
  • Experience with Ellucian/Colleague or similar ERP system, Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Education and Experience Preferred
  • Master's degree in business administration (MBA) or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, with a focus on higher education finance or a similar sector.
  • Proven expertise in financial statement preparation, financial management, and strategic planning.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
