Leidos is seeking qualified licensed mental health professionals to become part of our Adult Military and Family Life Counseling (MFLC) team. This role is designed to provide essential support to military personnel and their families during significant transitions associated with military service.

The Adult Military and Family Life Counselor (Adult-MFLC) position presents a unique chance to play a crucial role in delivering non-medical assistance, which encompasses counseling, consultation, and outreach services to service members, their families, and eligible personnel.

Non-medical counseling is proactive and aims to tackle and offer solution-oriented strategies to challenges before they escalate into more significant issues. Military families often encounter distinct emotional and situational hurdles due to the pressures of military life. This role allows you to connect with them in meaningful ways.


Key Responsibilities of the Adult-MFLC:
  • Provide face-to-face counseling to military service members and their families, including individuals, couples, and groups.
  • Engage in activities with service members and their families, offering coaching and support to installation staff while demonstrating effective behavior management techniques.
  • Deliver presentations to military personnel, families, and leadership during military-connected events.
  • Encourage creativity and positivity through approved resources.
  • Establish rapport with families by participating in community and installation events.
  • Assist with transitions, such as adapting to new schools and homes.
  • Participate in ongoing training and other assigned contract activities.
  • Relay information regarding trends and issues at the assigned installation to Team Leads.

Additional Duties May Include:
  • Responding to urgent situations across various locations on military installations.
  • Navigating both indoor and outdoor environments, including rugged terrains.
  • Traveling to locations outside military bases in diverse physical settings.
  • Adhering to site-specific requirements to work at designated locations.

Work Environment:

As directed by the Department of Defense, duties will be performed in multiple indoor (approximately 60%) and outdoor (approximately 40%) settings. Indoor locations are situated within military installations, while outdoor tasks may involve traversing uneven surfaces and exposure to various weather conditions.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree or higher in Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD).
  • A valid independent license in the mental health field from any U.S. state or territory (e.g., Licensed Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Counselor, Psychologist).
  • U.S. citizenship and an active passport valid for at least six months beyond the assignment's conclusion.
  • Ability to pass a basic employment background check and a Child National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI/CNACI) clearance.
