Position Overview:

This role plays a vital part in the success of Recreational Equipment Inc by ensuring the accurate and timely review, balancing, and posting of corporate financial information to the general ledger.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct month-end closing processes and perform account reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly standard journal entries and collaborate across divisions to address general accounting inquiries.
  • Maintain balance sheet schedules and analyze general ledger account balances for accuracy and completeness.
  • Generate and review reports, manage data organization, and research account corrections in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal definitions.

This position requires a strong grasp of the technical and financial implications of accounting processes, with the ability to independently identify and resolve issues.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Performing month-end closing activities and reviewing corporate financial data from various systems.
  • Accruing, deferring, and amortizing corporate costs in compliance with GAAP.
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts and resolving discrepancies.
  • Conducting data entry and account clearing tasks.
  • Collaborating cross-divisionally to research financial information and post correcting entries as necessary.
  • Preparing documentation for tax filings, audits, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Analyzing financial data to provide insights to management and ensure accuracy.
  • Generating custom reports as requested by management.
  • Identifying issues and addressing inconsistencies, while taking ownership of solutions.
  • Maintaining awareness of activities that could impact operations and service levels.
  • Recommending and assisting in the development of workflow improvements.

Additionally, the candidate will assist with the annual external audit process, manage timelines, and communicate important matters to the team.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • In the process of obtaining CPA license.
  • Thorough understanding of multiple financial systems.
  • Experience with ERP systems and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with SAP.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 1 year of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative work style with the ability to consolidate information for sound decision-making.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and effective time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects.
  • Flexibility in viewpoints to support team direction.
