Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Design Engineer plays a crucial role in facilitating the smooth operation of production activities. This involves issuing precise work orders, promptly addressing inquiries, scheduling workstations, and managing the flow of components to various work areas. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer is tasked with recognizing opportunities for process enhancements and proposing effective solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop shop routers (work orders) based on engineering data releases, ensuring all essential information is included. Follow up with shop floor personnel to confirm clarity and actionability of instructions.
  • Populate the shop schedule with tasks and estimated hours derived from the released routers.
  • Respond to inquiries from shop floor personnel, which may necessitate collaboration with engineering or other departments. Ensure that responses are timely and comprehensible.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize routers that can replace job-specific work instructions created by engineering.
  • Take a proactive role in managing 'shop jobs', which are primarily overseen by the shop with minimal engineering input.
  • Uphold a safe working environment and demonstrate a commitment to safety excellence.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at process and product improvements within the shop.
  • Seek advancements in technology and equipment to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Assist in the recruitment and assessment of new team members.
  • Collaborate with other departments and suppliers as necessary to ensure timely project completion.
  • Engage in manufacturing team activities to achieve set objectives.
  • Deliver exceptional levels of internal and external customer service.
  • Additional projects and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the company.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.

Knowledge and Skills:

The following qualifications are the minimum required for this position:

  • Experience working with collaborative teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Previous experience as a process leader and familiarity with productivity tools is advantageous.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Capability to successfully complete assignments.
  • Ability to anticipate and meet customer needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a design engineering or manufacturing engineering capacity.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This position is full-time.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required based on company needs.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is essential.
  • Must be authorized to work legally.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
