Responsibilities:

The Lead Registered Nurse operates under the guidance of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and takes charge of hospital operations. Collaborating with the CNO and the leadership team, you will help implement and ensure adherence to policies and procedures, including regulatory and accreditation standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring safe and effective patient care during off-hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Assessing all departments to maintain continuity of care and reporting relevant information to management.
  • Communicating unusual occurrences or complaints promptly for appropriate follow-up.
  • Overseeing that nursing staff provides care in a manner that prioritizes patient safety and minimizes healthcare errors.
  • Monitoring documentation practices to ensure compliance with medical necessity and care plans.
  • Promoting a philosophy of rehabilitation nursing.
  • Managing staffing plans and nursing hours per patient day, while ensuring quality performance from nursing staff.
  • Reducing reliance on agency staff and overtime by effectively managing the nursing schedule.
  • Possibly handling patient care assignments alongside daily responsibilities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Current unrestricted nursing license in the state.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required.
  • Certification as a Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) is mandatory.
  • A minimum of two years of nursing management experience is required.
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate, and direct clinical personnel activities; effective communication skills in English, with additional languages preferred; basic computer proficiency is essential.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
