Job Title: Survey Manager

The Middlesex Corporation is a leading heavy civil construction company with a strong commitment to safety and quality. We are seeking an experienced Survey Manager to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Survey Manager will be responsible for overseeing the survey operations for multiple projects, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of survey data. This includes managing survey staff, implementing survey procedures, and maintaining quality control.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Comply with and promote all safety policies and procedures.
  • Work with Project Managers and Superintendents to establish project survey control and field reporting.
  • Utilize Trimble survey equipment and software, including GPS, robotic total stations, and machine control equipment.
  • Manage survey data for multiple projects, including importing and exporting data to/from field instruments.
  • Develop and maintain 3D terrain models for projects using Civil 3D, Carlson, and Trimble Business Center software.
  • Train and supervise field survey staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Coordinate with other project Field Supervisors to ensure surveying activities are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Oversee survey equipment calibration and maintenance, and make recommendations for purchasing and repair decisions.
  • Perform calculations for horizontal and vertical survey control, and document survey notes.
  • Prepare final records for projects, including as-builds.
  • Coordinate and monitor the work of survey subcontractors.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in construction project layout and 5 years in a survey management position.
  • Preferred to be licensed in the State of Florida, Massachusetts, or Connecticut as a Professional Surveyor and Mapper.
  • Knowledge of modern survey equipment, including robotic total stations, data collectors, and field software.
  • Ability to research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
  • Excellent communication, verbal, and written skills.
  • Ability to adapt to different personalities and management styles.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
