Responsibilities
  • Represent the Ombudsman Program: Review and respond to resident, family, and community member complaints regarding long-term care facilities, adhering to the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Conduct Investigations: Meet with residents and family members, conduct investigations around complaints, and interview facility staff.
  • Advocate for Resident Rights: Effectively manage and prioritize complaints received, ensure timely and relevant responses, using conflict resolution techniques and strategies.
  • Liaison with Resident Councils: Liaison with resident councils in all LTC facilities, provide presentations for staff, residents, and community regarding Ombudsman services, resident rights, and other pertinent topics.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in social work, human services, health, public administration, gerontology, law, or related fields. Valid driver's license and required vehicle insurance with access to a vehicle during work hours.

Estimated Salary: Based on national averages, the estimated salary for this role is approximately $40,000 - $50,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
