Care Advocate Coordinator

About the RoleWe are seeking a Long Term Care Ombudsman to work in our Tri-County Services office. As the Ombudsman, you will be responsible for:
- Representing the Ombudsman program by reviewing and responding to resident, family and/or community member complaints regarding LTC facilities, adhering to the highest level of confidentiality.
- Meeting with residents and family members, conducting investigations around complaints, and interviewing facility staff.
- Effectively managing and prioritizing complaints received, ensuring a timely and relevant response to all complaints assigned, using conflict resolution techniques and strategies.
- Advocating for resident rights, including avoidance of elder abuse, mistreatment, and neglect.
- Liaising with resident councils in all LTC facilities, providing presentations for staff, residents and community regarding Ombudsman services, resident rights, and other pertinent topics.
- Entering data into databases accurately and timely, and reporting to Program Director on outcomes, trends, and activities.
- SUPPORTING A CORPS OF VOLUNTEER OMUDSMEN THROUGH PROVIDING TRAINING AND GUIDANCE IN COMPLAINT HANDLING.
This is a part-time position, working 18 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's Degree in social work, human services, health, public administration, gerontology, law, or related fields.
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle during work hours.
- Experience working with older adults in a long-term care facility or as an advocate.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and other computer applications.
The estimated salary range for this position is $25.00 per hour, based on market rates and location.
